The St George's Shoulder Unit is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment of conditions affecting the shoulder and elbow.
The Shoulder Unit is located at St. George's Hospital, London and treats patients from the local population as well as seeing national referrals.
A large part of the units work is providing a shoulder and elbow trauma service as part of the Orthopaedic Department at St. George's Hospital.
The Shoulder Unit consists of two fellowship trained consultant orthopaedic surgeons specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery, 2 specialist registrars and a specialist Physiotherapist.
Patients are seen on appointment by referral from a General Practitioner or a hospital consultant and are made by St. George's Hospital.
The unit is actively involved in teaching of undergraduates at St. George’s University of London and postgraduate surgeons.
The unit has a strong commitment to research and is involved in a number of basic science and multi-centre clinical trials.During your treatment you may be asked to participate in one of these studies and your help is appreciated. Further information about research can be found in the Links page.
